ABB won a contract, worth $50 millions dollars, from Actelios SpA to supply three photovoltaic solar power plants in western Sicily. According to ABB, these three plants will have fixed PV modules and a total power capacity of over 13 megawatts (MW). The main plant will have the capacity 6 MW, while the other two will have the capacity of 3.8 MW and 3.3 MW.
The completion of these plants will supply 19 gigawatt hours of renewable electric power each year and will help Italy avoid generating additional tons of carbon dioxide, which has been compared to the emissions of roughly 3,900 fuel effcient cars.
